Angela’s Dance Academy is under the direction and ownership of Angela Mayor and has been in operation since 1981. The fully equipped dance studio is located at 120 Mountain Street in Strasbourg and is home to boys and girls from the surrounding areas. Ages 3 and older study the disciplines of tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop and contemporary. Acro session classes are also available during the fall months.

Throughout the last four decades, the studio is proud to have trained local, provincial and international dance and baton twirling champions, several have continued their dance training in professional dance companies, as well as successfully running their own dance studios. The students have proudly represented their community several times throughout Canada and the United States at various events.

The dancers provide entertainment to the community, compete yearly at competitions and take great pride in their year-end show, Dance Fantasy, which stages the first weekend of June each year. Angela’s Dance Academy are also hosts to an annual dance competition, Dance Alive, held each spring.

Summer Dance Camps and ADA Summer Dance Intensive are open during the summer months.

Between Friends Quilt Guild was organized at a meeting in June of 2000 with interested quilters from Nokomis, Semans, Strasbourg and Bulyea. In September of that year the Guild was formed.

In the beginning, we met at the various communities on a weekday evening. The host community would do a demo of a new technique or a new block.  It wasn’t long and we knew we wanted more. We started to meet on a Saturday so we could sew together all day, still meeting in each community. We now alternate meetings between Drake and Strasbourg, monthly from September to May.

Over the years we have made donation quilts for many worthwhile causes including Mending Hearts, Regina General Hospital NICU and the children’s Cancer Centre, Canada themed quilts for war veterans and quilts for Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon. Our Ronald McDonald House contributions have included donations to the kids who are sick to take home and most recently for every bedroom in the House. We have delivered quilts to the care homes in the communities. We have incorporated the Every Child Matters Logo into Quilts and Wall Hangings. We also deliver many comfort quilts for those in need of a warming hug. We have given quilts to other groups to raffle – for example Strasbourg KidSport and Govan Eastern Star.

We enjoy our retreats which began at the Strasbourg Bible Camp. These started with two days and an overnight stay where we took all our food. Each community was responsible for a meal – planning, bringing the food, setting up and clean up. We evolved into staying for the entire weekend and paying the camp to prepare our meals.

We have had our last few retreats at Manitou. We enjoy our time quilting and the water. We might, also, enjoy the retail therapy we get at the gift shop!

We now have members from Saskatoon, Drake, Nokomis, Semans, Duval, Strasbourg, Bulyea, Silton and one long distance member from Steinbach, Manitoba. New members are welcome. This group does receive funding from Sask. Lotteries.

The Ladies Auxiliary was formed on September 23, 1965 when a group of ladies, from the district, met at the Municipal Office in Strasbourg for the purpose of forming an auxiliary to Last Mountain Pioneer Home. The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization and over these 42 years, the main objective has been the comfort and needs of the residents in our Home.

In 2007, sixteen members worked as a group to provide little extras and kindnesses for the residents. We held three teas and supplied and served lunch at two Farmers Markets and from our fundraising events have supplied needed items for the residents. Our activities over the year include treats for Valentine’s Day, plants for Easter and Christmas, birthday gifts and a party each month, a Christmas party, purchasing and planting front flower beds and a sum of money each month for fresh fruit.

Auxiliary meets on the second Monday of each month except July and August. Meetings are held in the Activity Room at the Last Mountain Pioneer Home at 2:00 p.m. We are a dedicated group of ladies and we always welcome new members.

The mandate of the Last Mountain Pioneer Home Foundation is to provide funding for programs, equipment or services that has a direct benefit to the residents of the Last Mountain Pioneer Home.

This is accomplished through donations, which are received in memory of a loved one, area combined appeals, service clubs, area businesses, employee donations and individuals who make the Foundation their charity of choice.  LMPH Foundation is a Registered Charity and issues tax receipts for donations received.

Each year the LMPH Foundation holds an annual meeting and the Last Mountain Pioneer Home administration provides a list of items or improvements to be considered for the upcoming year.  Funding has been provided for items such as, specialty mattresses, ceiling tract lifts, specialty radios, renovations and much more.  The LMPH Foundation covers the costs of the Mobility Bus used by the Pioneer Home.

The LMPH Foundation Board consists of members appointed by the R.M.s of Last Mountain Valley, Longlaketon, McKillop and Mount Hope, and can be appointed from the communities of Bulyea, Duval, Earl Grey, Govan, Semans, Silton and Strasbourg.

The Strasbourg Lions Club, established in 1957, is a community organization dedicated to serving the local population and supporting various charitable initiatives. As part of the global Lions Clubs International network, we focus on humanitarian efforts, including vision care, health awareness, and youth programs. Currently, our club has a small but committed membership, and we are eager to welcome new members who share our passion for making a positive impact. Established in 1988, the Last Mountain Theatre Company (LMTC) is a thriving, not-for-profit community group dedicated to the continuation and preservation of amateur theatre. With over 25 full-time members, the LMTC has partnered with Bulyea Community Theatre to perform two productions a year - a fall production in Bulyea and a spring dinner theatre production in Strasbourg. 

LMTC has hosted the provincial Theatre Saskatchewan One-Act Theatre Festival, a well-attended weekend event where amateur theatre groups from across Saskatchewan showcase their one-act productions, complete with adjudication, various theatre workshops, and lively Green Rooms. The LMTC has won numerous acting, directing, and production awards for their performances, most recently, having won five awards including Best Play at the 2024 Theatre Saskatchewan Full-Length Festival.

The LMTC holds regular meetings, throughout the year. Anyone who is interested in any aspect of theatre, whether it is acting, directing, stage managing, technical, set construction and design, or make-up and costuming is invited to attend. Senior Citizens’ Club meets every Friday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for cards (Crib, Rook, 500, Rummy, etc.), and other games (Rummikub, Dominoes, Scrabble, etc).  We also open the Drop-In on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for coffee and conversation. The Strasbourg Age-Friendly Recreation Board was founded in 2023 as a sub-group of the Strasbourg Recreation Board to focus on creating an Age-Friendly Community within Strasbourg and the surrounding area.

Over the last two-and-a-half years, we have worked with both the Saskatchewan Seniors’ Mechanism (SSM) and New Horizon’s bringing in a total of $66,000 into the community to better the lives of Seniors.

We have used this money to hire a Senior Communications Officer, as well as to provide many programs and services such as our Toonie Lunch, Wellness Clinics, No One Eats Alone meals, foot care, Meals on Wheels, education events, Taxi Service, Snow Angels program, Bi-annual Window Washing, and many more.

We are privileged to  have partnered with the Town of Strasbourg, Strasbourg EMS, WDS, Shared Ministry, Strasbourg Branch Library, Strasbourg CO-OP, Quilter’s Guild, Strasbourg Clinic, Strasbourg & District Fire & Rescue, as well as countless volunteers.

Strasbourg Preschool has been operating for several years and is run by an elected parent board (usually three people) who volunteer their time each year. Three and four year olds are able to enroll and registration opens in the summer. The school year starts with an Orientation Day for students and parents at the beginning of September and it follows the William Derby School schedule throughout the school year. 

It is scheduled to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The class structure includes Circle Time (learning colours, shapes, counting to 10, days of the week, months of the year, weather, and more), Song Time, Story Time, Craft Time, Sharing Time (i.e. playtime), and Snack Time. 

The aim of the preschool is to provide a supportive environment for your child’s growth and development to prepare them for kindergarten. The focus will be on learning through play with an introduction to structured activities.

Registration information will be shared on community boards in the summer.

Strasbourg Recreation Board celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2006. The Rec. Board has provided leadership, in the community, in the fields of sports, recreation and culture. The past number of years their focus has included fitness and wellness. This hard working group of volunteers supports and organizes recreational and cultural events for the Strasbourg area.
